A filmmaker with an undeniable talent that led her to become the woman with the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiosgoya.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Goya Awards<\/a> in history (a total of eight) and a regular name at great film gatherings in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berlinale.de\/en\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Berlin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.festival-cannes.com\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cannes<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labiennale.org\/it\/cinema\/2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Venice<\/a>. Author of great works such as <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Things I Never Told You,<\/i><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>My Life Without Me, The Secret Life of Words, Endless Night <\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">or <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>The Bookshop<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">; Isabel \u2018has her own language, a way of filmmaking that made her one of the most outstanding Spanish directors both at home and abroad\u2019, declares Rub\u00e9n Moreno, director of Huesca festival. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">This edition\u2019s Luis Bu\u00f1uel Award distinguishes a key figure of Spanish cinema and a benchmark for future generations, a woman that, in addition to being director and scriptwriter, is also a producer, supporting young female filmmakers to have their own voice within industry. Thus, the Catalan filmmaker joins the cast of personalities that have received this prize, where we can see prominent names such as Bertrand Tavernier, Marisa Paredes, Stephen Frears, Carlos Saura, \u00c1ngela Molina, Jean-Claude Carri\u00e8re, Costa-Gavras, \u00c1lex de la Iglesia or the Taviani brothers among many others.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">The festival tribute will feature an exclusive debate with the honoree where she will be awarded virtually, an interview that will be displayed on the festival official social networks. The audience of Huesca will be able to enjoy her filmography at one of the drive-in seasons that are going to be held, it will be the feature film <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Learning to Drive<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">The Movie, premiered at Toronto Festival, is starred by the Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson and the Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley; a dramatic comedy about Wendy\u2019s life, a writer from Manhattan that decides to get a driving license with a Hindu political refugee as instructor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">CINEMA WOMAN<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Isabel Coixet (Barcelona, 1960) is one of the most awarded Spanish filmmakers. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #202122;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Her passion for cinema started as a child, when she was given an 8 mm camera on the occasion of her First Communion. After obtaining a BA degree in History at Barcelona University, she started professionally in the world of advertising where she received countless awards. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Some time later, she arrived to the world of cinema and after producing the short film <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Mira y ver\u00e1s<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (1984), she directed her first work <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Demasiado viejo para morir joven<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (1989); she both directed and wrote the script of a film that brought her first nomination to the Goya Awards as Best New Director. The Lost Sea<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2010); <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Listening to Judge Garz\u00f3n<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2011), that won the Goya in the Best Documentary category; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>White Tide<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2012); <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Yesterday Never Ends<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2013), that won three Silver Biznagas at M\u00e1laga Festival; Another Me (2013) and <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Learning to Drive <\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">(2014).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">2015 was another important year for her career, her film <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Nobody Wants the Night,<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> starred by Juliette Binoche and once again winner of four Goyas, opened the 66<\/span><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">th<\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> edition of Berlin Festival: she was the second woman in the festival history to achieve it. In addition, that same year she <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #202122;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">received the prize of the French Ministry of Culture of Knight of Arts and Letters.<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> With a cinematographic language that equally adapts to short and to length film, to fiction and to documentary; Isabel kept achieving success with titles such as <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Talking about Rose. Prisoner of Hiss\u00e8ne Habr\u00e9<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2015); <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Spain in a Day<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2016); <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>The Bookshop<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2017) won the Goya Awards in the Best Film, Best Director and Best Script categories, this sums up to a total of eight direct awards to the filmmaker, who became the most awarded woman in the history of this prizes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Currently, after having premiered her last feature film <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Elisa &amp; Marcela<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2019) at Berlin Festival, she embarked on a new challenge with her first series, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>Foodie Love<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (2019), achieving critical and audience success. At present she is post-producing her new work: <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>It Snows in Benidorm.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p
