THE OBJECTIVE OF THE CHAIR IS TO CREATE A SPACE OF REFLECTION AND ACADEMIC TRAINNIG THAT STRENGTHENS AND WIDNES THE FILM AND THE THEATER CULTURE, AN END THAT MEETS THE OBJECTIVES OF THE AWARD <\/strong>AWARD<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The Pepe Escriche Prize<\/a> of the 48th edition of the Huesca International Film Festival will be awarded to Ingmar Bergman Chair on Film and Theatre<\/a>, an initiative of the National Autonomous University of Mexico<\/a> focused on cinema and theater that will commemorate its tenth anniversary in 2020. The aim of the Chair lies in the creation of a space for reflection and academic training that strengthens and expands the cinematographic and theatrical culture among university students and society in general, an objective that directly connects with the spirit of the award. Its commendable work has brought films from both sides of the Atlantic creating a cultural bridge based on the seventh art. Outstanding personalities such as Terry Gilliam, Juliette Binoche, Guillermo Arriaga, Geraldine Chaplin, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu, Lucrecia Martel and Carlos Saura, from Huesca, are just some of the names that have taken part in their activities over the last decade, a clear demonstration of the work carried out which the festival wishes to recognize with this prize.<\/p>\n

The Chair will join the outstanding list of winners of this recognition. Since its first edition, the award-winning people and institutions have been La Escuela de San Antonio de los Ba\u00f1os<\/a> (2009), World Cinema Fund<\/a> (2010), Mar\u00eda Lourdes Cort\u00e9s (2011), Morelia International Film Festival<\/a> (2012), Spanish Film Library<\/a> (2014), Cinema under construction (2015), Pilar Mart\u00ednez-Vasseaur (2016), Ibermedia<\/a> (2017), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain<\/a> (2018) and EGEDA<\/a> (2019).<\/p>\n

The Pepe Escriche Prize was created in 2009, after the founder of the Aragonese event (Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Escriche), to honor his memory as a great promoter of the cultural ties between Spain and the rest of the world through cinema and culture. The trophy shows a razor whose edge represents a fragment of celluloid. Its author is the renowned sculptor and designer Isidro Ferrer<\/a> (National Design and Illustration Award). This award, together with the Carlos Saura City of Huesca Prize<\/a> and the Luis Bu\u00f1uel Prize<\/a> make up the trio of tributes that each edition of the Huesca Festival renders. This years\u2019 appointment will be June 12-20.<\/p>\n

FROM MEXICO, A SPACE FOR KNOWLEDGE, DEBATE AND REFLECTION<\/p>\n

The Ingmar Bergman Extraordinary Chair on film and theater is the most important program of contemporary thinking about cinema and performing arts of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Its purpose is to socialize the unknowns that stimulate these disciplines through collective learning experiences. These activities strengthen the artistic community and bring university students closer to the creation process, while fostering bonding, reflection and exchange meetings.<\/p>\n

Since its creation in 2010, the Bergman Chair has completed half a thousand projects with hundreds of activities such as lectures, master classes, workshops, seminars, experimental practices, round tables, film cycles, theatrical seasons, exhibitions, publications and tributes, reaching more than 70,000 attendees over almost ten years. The constant and attractive offer of the Bergman Chair has positioned this program as a prestigious space for reflection, training and meeting around cinema and performing arts. The excellent learning and bonding opportunities it generates, translate into a profound impact on its audiences, made up of the university community and art professionals, as well as people who wish to find in these disciplines a reflection of themselves and the current world we live in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
