The productions come from Europe, America and Asia, representing 29 countries. They will compete in the 3 categories of the contest: International (30), Iberoamerican (30) and Documentary (16). These works will be able to win one of the three Danzante Awards that would give them a direct access to\u00a0the Hollywood <a href=\"https:\/\/oscar.go.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oscar Awards<\/a> preselection stage. Spain has the most important representation with a total of 21 short films in competition, then France and Germany with 7, Mexico with 6, Poland with 5 and Switzerland with 4. Other countries of great tradition and international weight within the world of cinema, such as Brazil or Argentina, will also be represented with 3 shorts films each, like the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>The Huesca event reaffirms one of its hallmarks: the search for new talent. The contest will feature 24 debut films and 8 short films coming from schools, as well as works from territories with less visibility such as Moldova, Taiwan or Georgia. &#8220;Huesca is a window to the world in both ways, both for the public and for the filmmakers. Our essence is to look for new languages, innovative proposals, rough diamonds behind the cameras &#8220;pointed out Rub\u00e9n Moreno, director of the festival.<\/p>\n<p>The final selection evidences an important feminine presence: 40% of the total of the works, are made by women. Some of them are well-known names such as Carla Sim\u00f3n and others, such as Claudia Costafreda, are already known for their participation in the high-Aragon contest. The former, awarded at festivals such as Berlin, Venice or Malaga, and winner of a Goya and three Feroz awards for <i>Verano 1993,<\/i> returns to the short film scene with <i>Despu\u00e9s tambi\u00e9n<\/i>. On the other hand, Costafreda will try to repeat the success achieved in 2017 (when it won the Danzante Prize of the Ibero-American Contest) with its second short film: <i>Benidorm 2017<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Animation will have a prominent place in the official section with a total of 15 works, including Carlos Baena. This director who has worked for Pixar with characters such as Buzz and Woody from Toy Story and has animated creatures for Star Wars, brings to Huesca a horror proposal (<i>La Noria<\/i>) that has already received many awards.<\/p>\n<p>The Huesca International Film Festival, which also has the endorsement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiosgoya.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Goya Awards<\/a>, will be held from June 7 to 15, with a total of 24,000 euros in prizes, including the Arag\u00f3n Televisi\u00f3n Public Award.
