SPANISH ACTOR TO BE HONOURED AT A GALA ON JUNE 13 WHERE HE WILL PRESENT HIS NEXT WORK, THE FILM FORMENTERA LADY<\/em><\/p>\n

Huesca International Film Festival will award the actor Jos\u00e9 Sacrist\u00e1n with one of its highest prizes, the Luis Bu\u00f1uel Award. The prize, that distinguishes professional careers of national and international film figures, will be awarded at a homage gala next June 13. \u2018Jos\u00e9 Sacrist\u00e1n is one of the greatest exponents of our cinema, a referent to generations of actors and an icon loved by all\u2019 declared Rub\u00e9n Moreno, director of the festival.<\/p>\n

The ceremony, which will take place at the Olimpia Theatre at 22:00, will honour the figure and career of this multi-awarded actor and director. His most recent work at the big screen and directing debut of the also actor Pau Dur\u00e1, the feature film Formentera Lady<\/em>, will round off the event; the film will be exclusively screened at the capital Upper Aragonese city after having been at the official section of the M\u00e1laga Festival and previously to the Spanish commercial cinemas. In this film, Sacrist\u00e1n features Samuel, a man that has been living for 70 years in the hippie atmosphere of Formentera Island. The visit of his daughter and grandson will bring about a twilight journey that will be, in turn, inspiring and initiative.<\/p>\n

The name of Jos\u00e9 thus joins a long list of award winners where some fillmmakers as Aki Kaurismaki, Bertrand Tavernier, Stephen Fears, Carlos Saura, Jean Claude Carri\u00e8re -or Costa-Gavras and \u00c1lex de la Iglesia, honoured in the last edition- stand out, among many others.<\/p>\n

A SYMBOL OF SPANISH CINEMA<\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Sacrist\u00e1n (1937, Chinch\u00f3n -Madrid-) has developed a career over six decades long. From his debut in the 60s, to the stage of the theatre Infanta Santa Isabel to the last feature film, he has accumulated more than one hundred films with tittles as Asignatura Pendiente<\/em>,\u00a0Un hombre llamada Flor de Oto\u00f1o<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0El muerto y ser feliz<\/em>; with these last tittles he was awarded the Silver Shell for Best Actor at San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival, while also winning the Goya Award with Javier Rebollo\u2019s film. Other festivals as Valladolid\u2019s, M\u00e1laga\u2019s or Gij\u00f3n\u2019s have also paid tribute to him with their highest awards, in addition to having been distinguished with the Golden Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts.<\/p>\n

His theatre career shines just as much as his cinematographic career, winning two years ago the Pepe Isbert National Theatre Award. In parallel, television has also fallen for his talent, as he starred some of the most watched recent series as Tiempos de Guerra<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0Velvet<\/em>, whose success crossed borders until becoming one of the most popular productions throughout Iberoamerica.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
