THE THREE WORKS, AUTHOMATICALLY SHORTLISTED TO THE OSCAR AWARDS<\/p>\n
Romanian short film Miss Sue\u00f1o<\/em> by Radu Potcoava, Mexican La Huella<\/em>\u00a0by Carlos Andrade Montemayor and Finnish\u00a0Waste No.1 Money<\/em>\u00a0by Jan Ij\u00e4s received the Danzante Award of the 46th<\/sup> edition of Huesca International Film Festival in the International, Iberoamerican and Documentary Contests respectively. Out of 77 works coming from 30 different countries, the Jury selected these three productions to receive the highest distinction of Huesca Festival and to become eligible for the Hollywood Oscar Awards.<\/p>\n The International contest has awarded Radu Potcoava\u2019s short film for tackling, according to the jury, \u2018with vehemence a reality concealed by society\u2019 and highlighted the acting for its \u2018great realism, which transmits the tension the story is impregnated with\u2019. Best animation work has gone to Dutch short Catastrophe<\/em>\u00a0by Jamille van Wijngaarden, a work that shows \u2018a series of funny catastrophes directed with a fast pace, that make this short film a little masterpiece\u2019.<\/p>\n The Francisco Garc\u00eda de Paso Human Values Award has gone to Italian film Magic Alps<\/em>\u00a0by Marco Scotuzzi and Andrea Brusa. Both directors convey \u2018the importance that the strength of personal ties and small gestures may imply in a universal context such as immigration\u2019.<\/p>\n The International jury composed of Laurent Tremeau, director of \u2018Un Festival c\u2019est trop court\u2019, Spanish Julio Soto and producer Cristina Lera, also Spaniard, awarded a special mention to the German animation short film Obon<\/em>, by Samo Anna Bergmann and Andre H\u00f6rmann.<\/p>\n At the Iberoamerican section, Mexican director Carlos Andrade Montemayor won the Danzante Award with his work La huella<\/em> for daring to condemn in his short film \u2018the lack of freedom and the impunity of the murders of journalists in Mexico\u2019, quoting the minutes of the jury. The second prize of this contest, the Cacho Pallero Award, has gone to Rapaz<\/em> by Chilean Felipe G\u00e1lvez, a work that makes us reflect upon \u2018the daily violence, that can turn into an act of horror that we might be complicit in or responsible for\u2019.<\/p>\n Two special distinctions have been awarded by this jury composed of Ana Arruda, director of Festival Curta Brasilia, actor and director Armando del Rio and filmmaker Blanca Torres. The short film No pases por San Bernardino<\/em>, by Mexican Hugo Maga\u00f1a, and Spanish La \u00faltima virgen<\/em>\u00a0by B\u00e1rbara Farr\u00e9.<\/p>\n The third contest, documentary, has distinguished Finnish Jan Ij\u00e4s\u2019s work, Waste No.1 Money<\/em>, with the Danzante Award. A film \u2018both funny and serious\u2019 whose story \u2018portrays current times\u2019. As for Buenos d\u00edas Espa\u00f1a<\/em>\u00a0by Sara Pisos, Irati Cano, Carlos Reyes and Mar\u00eda Barcelo, it has received the Jos\u00e9 Manuel Porquet Award; a work that \u2018hints through humour and irony a subtle warning about the way the dark part of our past can overshadow our future\u2019. The jury comprised by Miguel Valverde, IndieLisboa director, Inke Van Loocke, from Festival Internacional de Cine de Rotterdam and Isabel de Ocampo, Goya winner filmmaker to Best short film, has awarded a special distinction to Ana Galizia\u2019s Brasilian Inconfissoes<\/em>.<\/p>\n Regarding debut works, the youth jury of the Upper Aragonese festival composed by Ana Escario, Clara Esteban, In\u00e9s Escart\u00edn and Marcos Ronsano, awarded two works, Michael Podogil\u2019s Austrian Fucking Drama<\/em>\u00a0at the international contest, and Chilean El camino de los perros<\/em>\u00a0by Sebasti\u00e1n Cuevas at the Iberoamerican.
