Huesca International Film Festival announces that \u2018Ciudad de Huesca\u2019 Award is to be received by the actress and director Leticia Dolera at its 45th edition. One of the most recognizable faces of contemporary Spanish cinema will be in Huesca next June 9 and will attend the opening ceremony where she is to be awarded. The festival organization considers that Dolera is the perfect reflection of the profession spirit, \u2018an established career and an undeniable international projection\u2019, in Azucena Garanto\u2019s words, the festival director. The aim of this tribute is to stand out models to young filmmakers that are taking their first steps in the cinematographic world, models that can be looked up to and, at the same time, that serve as encouragement at the beginning of their careers.<\/p>\n

Leticia Dolera thus joins the distinguished list of winners of a prize created in 1991. In the meantime, names like Fernando Trueba, Arturo Ripstein, Julio Medem or more recently and in a new light, Adriana Ugarte, Silvia Abascal or Paula Ortiz -director with whom Leticia has worked in her two feature films- have formed an exceptional list.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of this recognition, the festival will screen Leticia Dolera\u2019s direction debut, Requisitos para ser una persona normal, <\/em>a romantic comedy three times nominated to the Goya Awards (including Best New Director) that won three Biznagas at M\u00e1laga Festival. Starred by herself, the film features an outstanding cast that includes Manuel Burque, Miki Esparb\u00e9, Alexandra Jim\u00e9nez, Silvia Munt and Carmen Machi\u2019s collaboration. On June 2, this film will be screened for free on the pond of Miguel Servet Park: a new location for the already traditional picnic<\/em> taking place a week before the beginning of official showings.<\/p>\n

LETICIA DOLERA: REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME ONE OF THE ROLE MODELS OF SPANISH CINEMA<\/p>\n

Leticia Dolera (1981) started young in the acting world of her native city, Barcelona; but the general public knew her when she participated in the juvenile series Al salir de clase.<\/em>\u00a0That was the starting point of an important cinematographic career, where we can find acclaimed titles like El otro lado de la cama<\/em>, by Emilio Mart\u00ednez-L\u00e1zaro;\u00a0Imagining Argentina<\/em>, by Christopher Hapmton, together with Antonio Banderas and Emma Thompson;\u00a0Semen, <\/em>a love story, by Daniela Fejerman and In\u00e9s Par\u00eds; or\u00a0Un caf\u00e9 en cualquier esquina,<\/em>\u00a0signed by Ramin Bahrani that won three nominations to the Independent Spirit Awards. There is no need to remember her well known participation in the best internationally known saga of the Spanish cinema, Rec, <\/em>where she starred the third episode, or her role in one of the most awarded films of the last course, La novia <\/em>by Paula Ortiz.<\/p>\n

Her consolidation as an actress on the big screen has been combined with TV series in and outside our borders. In Spain, she took part in some series as well-remembered as Los Serrano<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0Hospital Central\u00a0<\/em>and in other more recent ones as Bajo sospecha <\/em>or Barco. <\/em>Abroad, she had the leading role of French mini-series Petites Meutres en Familie<\/em>, later in the second and fourth season of BBC\u2019s\u00a0Mad Dogs<\/em>\u00a0and also in\u00a0The Nightmare Worlds of H.G. Wells<\/em>, for Sky Arts.<\/p>\n

In the last decade, Leticia Dolera\u2019s talent has not just been supported by critics and audiences, but also by the industry itself, which awarded her works in front an behind the cameras. She launched into directing for the first time in 2009 with the short Lo siento, te quiero<\/em>; her directorial debut as a filmmaker was presented in some of the most important festivals of our country as Valladolid or M\u00e1laga and was nominated to the Gaud\u00ed Awards in its category. She went on exploring this path with a new short, A o B <\/em>and, later on, with\u00a0Habitantes. <\/em>With De tu ventana a la m\u00eda<\/em>, Paula Ortiz\u2019s debut work, and\u00a0REC 3. G\u00e9nesis,<\/em>\u00a0she was awarded Best Spanish Actress at Sant Jordi Awards; besides, with the third episode of the popular cinematographic franchise she achieved great critical and public acclaim in France and the UK.<\/p>\n

Some of her following works, such as Los \u00faltimos d\u00edas<\/em>\u00a0by the Pastor Brothers and Kamikaze<\/em>\u00a0by Alex Pina, were box success. In 2013 she starred Violet, <\/em>film by Luiso Berdejo with which she was nominated to the Actors\u2019 Union Awards. In 2014, she directed her first feature film as director, Requisitos para ser una persona normal<\/em>, and she also collaborated with Paula Ortiz\u2019s\u00a0La novia<\/em>.<\/p>\n

At the early age of 35 years, Leticia Dolera\u2019s filmography consists of over 50 works as an actress and 6 as a director and scriptwriter. In addition, currently she is in the process of creating, she is writing what is expected to be her next directing foray.<\/p>\n
